Day 1

Day 1        Articles from Online Resources

 

Each Day 1 you will choose 1 website from the  list below.  The article must be a minimum of ¾ page length and written in french.  You must print the article and do the following:

1)      Take notes in English in bullet form (approximately ½  of a page ).

2)    Write a 12 – 15 sentence reaction in French.

3)    Write 5 comprehension questions in French (as if you were writing a “quiz” for your classmates).

French V Daily Planning Guide

Day 1                Articles (from online resources)

Choices:

 NAT GEO en français

 

Each Day 1 you will choose 1 website from the above list.  The article must be a minimum of ¾ page length and written in french.  You must print the article and do the following:

Day 2               drop day

Day 3               Podcasts 

  • All Podcasts must be at the intermediate or advanced level.

Choices:   a) ITUNES “Conversations About Australian Culture”

                b) ITUNES “Classic French Tales” Cendrillon

                c) ITUNES “Cultivate Your French”

                d) ITUNES “French Etc.”

                e) ITUNES “French Today Easy Poetry” (30 poems)

 

1)      Listen to a minimum of 30 solid minutes total per class   period.

2)    Take notes in English as you listen.

3)    Summarize in French main theme of each podcast 3 -5 sentences minimum.

 

Day 4               Grammar Cours Supérieur

                a) Complete 2 sections each Day 4.

                b) You will begin with Chapitre 1, p. 1 “Le Nom.”

 

  • You will be held accountable for all material included in the grammar book for the mid-term and final exam.

 

Day 5               Literature  novel Le Petit Prince

 Read 3 chapters per Day 5.

            Do the accompanying workbook questions.
                 Take notes on each chapter in French (you must use your own words!)

 Write a reaction in French for each chapter (approximately 1 solid paragraph; a bit less for shorter chapters – use your best judgment!)

 Write a list of 10 unknown words per chapter in T-Chart format:  French    English

Day 6               Film

  • 1 film per term & lessons to accompany each film.
  • View approximately 25 – 30 minutes of the film each Day 6 & do the accompanying lessons.

Films:               ) “Jean de Florette”

                b) “Manon des Sources”

                c) “Au Revoir les Enfants”

                d) “Camille Claudel” (Parental Permission)

 

Day 7               Culture

                Term 1      Food

a) Research French foods, French chefs, Cooking Terms, and Table Etiquette.  Take notes accordingly.

b) Produce a 2 minute video/”cooking show.”

c) Choose a recipe to bring in and share!

 

Term 2     Travel

 

a) Choose a French-speaking destination.

b) You are a representative from the “Educational Tours” company.  You are responsible for planning the trip for 20 SLRHS students.  To be included:

        1) lodging

        2) meals

        3) transportation

        4) daily touring schedule (ex. Tourist sites)

        5) daily leisure activities

 

  • The manner in which you decide to structure this travel unit is entirely up to your discretion.  Ex. Power Point, Brochure, Poster, Video, etc.

Term 3     Music

a) Research music and artists from French popular music (France’s Billboard Top 40).

b) You will choose a total of 10 songs.

C) Write a critique in French of each song and print out lyrics.

d) Write a paragraph in French with biographical information on each artist.

e) Make a list of music terms in French with the English definition (use these terms in your critiques).

Term 4     Personal Choic
 Choose your own idea.  Possible choices may include:

                sport
               fashioN
            
 science

   student life

   health

 family life

government and politics

 

b.) Create a project that demonstrates your understanding of your chosen topic.  Be Creative!
